If beautiful Ponderosa forests, rural country living, or mountain resort communities is
what you’re looking for, this may be the perfect area for you. This area features
communities such as Sunriver, Three Rivers, La Pine State Park, and more. There is a
wide variety of housing options from condos, large acreage estates, traditional
neighborhoods, to some of the more luxurious custom estates. This area has quick
access to everything an outdoor enthusiast may want. Whether you’re looking for snow
sports at Mt. Bachelor, wanting to golf on any of the many amazing courses in the area,
boating, fishing, and camping at any of the numerous lakes nearby such as Wickiup
Reservoir, Paulina, Crane Prairie, or Cultus just to name a few, there is no shortage of
things to do.
Due to the low population-density of the area, there are two high school options for part
of the Central Oregon region. Most of those on the North side of Century Dr. have the
choice between attending Bend Senior High School or La Pine High School. South of
Century Dr. goes to La Pine High. Once the new High School is built on the South side
of Bend (expected around 2022), the boundaries on the North may see a slight
adjustment. The school is a smaller rural school that has approximately 420 students.
They value the experience their students gain in and outside the classroom with
involvement in co-curricular activities through athletics, clubs, and other opportunities as
well as the AVID and ASPIRE programs and their partnership with Oregon GEAR UP.
At Crook County High School they strive to ensure that all students graduate college and career-ready. They provide rigorous core courses and a variety of elective and CTE
classes. Many of the students graduate from CCHS with college credit through AP and College Now courses.
Crook County is located in the geographic center of Oregon in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and a population of approximately 26,845. The county’s economy has
traditionally been driven by agriculture, construction, forest products, livestock, manufacturing, recreation and tourism. In 2010, Facebook constructed their first company-owned 334,000 sq. ft. data center and has recently finished their second
360,000 sq. ft. data center, with plans for a third 60,000 sq. ft. building. Apple has completed a 10,000 sq. ft. data center and has submitted a master plan to build a 500,000 sq. ft. space over time,
There is no shortage of housing options in this area, ranging from large agricultural properties, to multifamily housing, to every varying type and style of housing and property options. This area also provides quick access to Bend and Redmond. There is no limit of outdoor activities. Prineville Reservoir is one of the most popular boating and fishing options in all of Central Oregon during the summer months, as well as being right at the base of the Ochoco mountain range.
